What is Notion?

Try Notion

Notion is a no-code workspace that turns team knowledge, tasks, and updates into ongoing work with AI Agents. With Custom Agents, you describe recurring processes in plain language and have agents automate answers, task routing, and status reporting while you’re offline. Notion Agents run inside Notion and use your existing docs and databases as context, connecting to tools your team already uses.

What are Notion Agents and what problem do they solve?

Notion Agents automate recurring work by running task, update, and Q&A workflows for your team. You assign the tasks and the agents use your Notion knowledge plus connected tools to generate answers, route incoming work, and produce recurring status updates—so teams spend less time manually gathering context and pushing the same information around.

Can I set up a Custom Agent without writing code?

Yes. You describe what you want in plain language, and Notion AI builds your agent for you. The workflow can then run on its own after you set it up, handling repeat work and updates automatically.

How do task routing agents decide where new work should go?

Task routing agents capture incoming tasks to triage and route them to the right team. In the product feedback example, the routing uses a routing rules page as memory so the process can evolve over time as more feedback comes in.

How do Notion Agents use my team’s existing information?

Notion Agents use your existing docs and databases as context, running inside Notion without needing to rebuild your knowledge. When you connect tools, agents can take action across Notion and connected apps to answer questions, move work, and generate updates based on what’s already in your workspace.

What controls do admins have over Custom Agents and agent runs?

Workspace admins can monitor Custom Agent usage and Notion credit consumption, and every agent run is logged with full audit trails showing what triggered it, what it did, and why. Agents also follow configurable permissions, with Notion Agent inheriting your permissions and Custom Agents using page-level access control.

Is my content private and are agent actions reversible?

Notion is designed to keep data private, and Notion doesn’t train AI models on your content; enterprise customers get zero data retention. Agent actions are reversible using Notion’s collaboration layer, so you can undo changes with version history.
